Job Description:
The Lead QA Software Engineer provides leadership and expertise in all aspects of Data Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes for data operations, which includes, but is not limited to, data content, analytic reports, dashboards, data extracts, and automated ETL/ELT processes. Individuals in this role will have a background in planning, managing, and performing software testing within the responsibility areas described, as well as knowledge of healthcare clinical and claims data.
Working with the Data Operations team, this role will assume responsibilities for:
- Testing of products in development; verifying and testing requirements, functionality, verifying standards are met and ensuring accurate data validation.
- Development of quality assurance testing plans and execution of QA activities is required. The investigation of reported data quality items, data assessment evaluation and production related processing defects for the data ingestion platform are key aspects of this role.
- Investigation and analysis of reported data anomalies; recommend corrective action in support of accurate clinical data content available from the Precision Oncology Platform.
The Lead QA SW Engineer is the primary resource providing daily direction to the Data Ops QA team as needed to meet objectives to ensure SLAs and TATs for QA and defect management processes at met. To be successful in this position, the individual needs to be a quick learner, detail oriented with critical thinking skills, and able to keep pace with the changing needs of business intelligence and data analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate data anomalies reported by customers and business owners. Analyze source data and platform processes to determine root-cause, present recommended remediation, and implementation options.
- Create testing plans and routines, manage continuous integration and regression testing processes, and be the point person for clearing data for release according to delivery specifications. Define testing methods and create test plans for application enhancements and bug fixes consistent with QA processes & standards established by the Platform QA team.
- Perform manual testing, software quality assurance, and implement test automation.
- Utilize QA tools such as Selenium, JMeter, and Jenkins and Create infrastructure to execute automation scripts on a scheduled basis. Perform heavy data validation & ETL/ELT processes testing.
- Supervises and directs Data Operations QA resources; provide oversight and daily direction, as needed.
- Create, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts such as: test data, data validation, and automated scripts.
- Work with customers, users, and other stakeholders to identify test cases and scenarios to verify the expected result and validate the outcome with Clinical Operations, Product and Business Owners.
- Work with application developers to identify and fix problems during the testing process.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ experience in software engineering and/or software architecture ideally within the healthcare field.
- 4‐year degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experienced w/ 3 or more TIOBE-Top-10 programming languages.
- Proficient (stack frames, query plans) skill w/ Performance Profiling tools.
- Proficient (advanced features) skill w/ Microsoft Office products & Jira/Confluence.
- Experience with Snowflake, Azure, SQL, Java.
- Proficient (whitepaper, API guides, standards) Written/Verbal skills.
